The Value of Safety

“Safety” is a universal word that is mentioned often and used loosely. Communities large and small as well as companies across all industries are committed to safety. Sports leagues, at every level, take safety seriously. Unfortunately, when it really counts, steps to keep the public, workers, athletes and loved ones safe are often ignored in the interest of expediency or convenience.

Christmas Memories

All of us have those special Christmas days that we fondly remember.  1970 was my first one because it was the year I received a Revelation 22 Long Rifle semi-automatic rifle.  Yes, it was a Revelation brand, purchased at the Western Auto store in Greenville.  Today, that design is a Marlin.   There are many other Christmas memories for me, but let me share my most unforgettable one thus far.

Though not having been in office long, Governor Ivey, has embraced the increasing need for post high school education and skills for Alabama workers over the coming years.  The Governor has announced a goal of having 65% of Alabama workforce having degrees, credentials or certificates by the year 2025.  At present, only about 37% of Alabama workers have some sort of post high school certification showing advanced training.

 

PEC Award Scholarships

     Pioneer Electric Cooperative recently presented Greenville High School graduating senior Alex Haire and Central High School graduating senior Orianna Gordon with 2017 Electric Cooperative Foundation, Inc. Scholarships valued at $1,000.
