Pioneer Election Results in RunoffGreenville, AL, October 19, 2010 Media Alert: Pioneer Election Results in Runoff October 19, 2010-Greenville, AL--Pioneer Electric Cooperative, Inc. held their annual membership meeting on Saturday, October 16, at the Greenville High School Auditorium. Over one hundred members and friends attended the annual event which featured the election of Trustees, reports on the state of the Cooperative and the giving away of door prizes. At the meeting, Executive Vice-President/General Manager, Steve Harmon, announced that a new Automatic Metering Infrastructure system will be installed over the next two years that will result in ultimate savings for the Cooperative and its membership as well as increasing the ability for members to easily monitor their electric usage. Harmon also announced that the cooperative had re-joined Touchstone Energy, a national cooperative branding alliance, and in the near future, Pioneer’s members will be able to obtain deals and discounts from national and local businesses through their membership in the cooperative. The election resulted in Carey Thompson defeating challenger Thelma Mixon in District 2, and a run-off in District 8 between Linda Arnold and challenger Herbert Leon Blackmon who beat out Rosa Honor for second place. Dave Lyon, Trustee for District 5 ran unopposed. Ballots for the run-off will go in the mail around November 4th. There will be a special meeting of the membership on Saturday, December 4th to announce the results of the run-off election. The meeting will be held at Pioneer’s office in Greenville with on-site voting for an hour beginning at 9:00 A.M. and the results announced at 10:00 A.M. “The December meeting will be short and sweet,” said Harmon. “The only business will be the announcement of the results of the election.” Pioneer Electric Cooperative, Inc. is a member-owned electric distribution cooperative that serves rural residents in parts of Butler, Dallas, Lowndes and Wilcox Counties in South Central Alabama. ###
