Economic Development

Pioneer Electric has been vitally interested in the Economic Development of its service area for several years.  Pioneer has partnered with several industries and businesses to create jobs and, at the same time, increase the electric load for the cooperative.  Some of Pioneer’s partners include Rayco Industrial, Crown Health Care Laundry Services, United Agricultural Products, Cahaba Valley Timber, Cahaba Valley Mulch, Regional Recycling, Priester’s Pecans and Evergreen Forest Products.

Pioneer works hand-in-hand with industrial prospects to meet their utility demands, to find appropriate locations, and, in some instances, help secure financing.  Pioneer was instrumental in creating industrial parks in Greenville (the Butler County Industrial Park), and in Selma (South Dallas Industrial Park), as well as in the forming of Industrial Development Authorities in Butler and Dallas Counties.

Working with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Rural Utilities Service, Pioneer has funded economic development revolving loan funds that are available to help industries and businesses within the Pioneer service area develop and expand. Pioneer also supports business and economic development through active participation in Economic Development agencies and chambers of commerce within its service area.
