Saturday, October 15th at the Southside High School Auditorium in SelmaPetition for Trustee Nomination form Pioneer’s annual membership meeting has been set for Saturday, October 15, 2011. The meeting will be held that morning in the Southside High School Auditorium, located on U.S. Highway 80 east of Selma. District 3, which covers the southwestern quarter of Butler County and some parts of Conecuh, Covington and Crenshaw Counties, is presently served by Glenn Branum. District 6, which covers that part of Dallas County north of Mush and Cedar Creeks is presently served by Melvin Dale. District 9, which covers the southern half of Lowndes County, is presently served by Melvia Carter. In order to run for the Trustee position this year, you must be a member in good standing as of August 15, 2011. There are two ways to be nominated: One is by the nominating committee, the other by petition. The Nominating Committee is appointed by the Board of Trustees, as required by the Bylaws, and is set up to insure that there is at least on candidate for every position up for election. The Nominating Committee typically nominates the incumbent, but may nominate someone else or multiple people. This committee must have their nominations turned in to the Cooperative by August 15. The other way to be nominated is by petition. The Cooperative’s bylaws require, in order to be nominated by petition, a member get the signatures of at least 25 members who receive service in that particular district. It is suggested that many more that 25 signatures be obtained just to be sure that there are enough (typically, some people who sign end up having their account in someone else’s name, etc.). A form for use in obtaining signatures is available here. Petitions must be received by August 15th. |
