Greenville High School Student Awarded Electric Cooperative Foundation ScholarshipGreenville, AL, May 27, 2011 Joseph “Charlie” Cole of Greenville was awarded a $1,000 scholarship through the Electric Cooperative Foundation. The scholarship is for the 2011-12 fall and spring semesters at The University of Mobile where Cole will major in Engineering.
The son of Charles and Margaret Cole, Charlie graduated from Greenville High School in May and says he wants to develop fuel efficient steam and Stirling engines for use in passenger cars. The scholarship will help with the costs of tuition, room and board or books. The Electric Cooperative Foundation was created by cooperatives throughout Alabama to help students continue their education at post-secondary and vocational schools. Since its creation, the Foundation has awarded over $193,000 in scholarships. Through the Electric Cooperative Foundation, Pioneer Electric Cooperative awards scholarships to graduating high school seniors who are the dependent children of Pioneer Electric Cooperative member-owners. Applications are available in January of each year. Congratulations to Charlie! We wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors!
